Cooler Weather Transition Meal Plan - Frugal Family Home

Cooler Weather Transition Meal Plan - Frugal Family Home

It’s the start of a brand new week. Which means it’s time to figure out what to eat.

When you meal plan you can avoid getting stuck for what to eat when 4 or 5 o’clock rolls around. If you don’t have your plan yet, it’s not too late. Below is what’s cooking at our house this week.

Menu plan with recipe links

I’ll be picking up 40 pounds of chicken breasts this week from Zaycon Fresh to restock the chicken meal packages in our freezer.

We are getting really low on chicken so it will be nice to restock. I found a package of Italian chicken and cooked chicken too. So we will be enjoying them this week to use up what we have before more comes in.

It’s feeling a lot like soup season around here. Even though we have had nice sunny days recently, the air is cool and crisp. We’ll be enjoying hamburger soup this week to warm up a bit.

I’ll also be running the oven to cook the artichoke chicken and hamburger cups. It’s nice to warm the house up a bit with the oven instead of turning on the heat.

We haven’t had to turn on our heat yet, have you? I’m hoping to hold out a few more weeks.

Finally, we’ll be trying smashed burritos. I made them once and everyone loved them. My son dreamed them up. He wanted to smash burritos and cook them in the waffle iron. I wasn’t sure it would work too well. But it surprisingly works out good the first time.

My son dreamed them up. He wanted to smash burritos and cook them in the waffle iron. I wasn’t sure it would work too well. But it worked out good the first time.

We are trying it again this week if they turn out well. I share how we made them on the blog soon.

I would love to know what’s cooking at your house this week too.

Here are our Meals for this Week,

Dinners

Chicken Artichoke Casserole ~ This is a healthy chicken artichoke pasta recipe is easy enough for everyday dinner but fancy enough for a company dinner.

Artichoke Mushroom Chicken over Egg Noodles, Salad, and Fruit

Hamburger Soup, Fruit, and Biscuits

Smashed Burritos, Salad, and Fruit

Italian Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Salad

Waffles, Sausage, and Eggs

Sloppy Joes, Fruit, and Baked Fries

Hamburger Cups, Salad, and Fruit

Lunches

Leftovers most days

Grilled Sandwiches with Fruit

Skillet Chili with Homemade Cornbread

Breakfast

I don’t think you can ever have too many breakfast recipes. This chocolate chip scone recipe is one of our favorites. These chocolate chip sones have no heavy cream, in fact they are dairy free scones. Another plus is you can make them in the skillet, so you don’t have to heat up the house on warmer days to bake them.

Toast with Eggs

Chocolate Chip Scones, Eggs, and Sausage

Pancakes, Eggs, and Sausage
