Menu Plan Monday, November 3rd

Menu Plan Monday, November 3rd

It’s a new week and time to make a new meal plan. If you haven’t planned your meals yet, now is a great time. You can find some great fall recipes below…

Menu plan with recipe links

With chilly wet weather here, I’m looking forward to yummy fall comfort foods. What is it about cold weather that makes you crave those comfort food recipes? I’d love to know.

Is it the warm feeling they give you when you eat them? Or the memories they drum up when you make a recipe that you had as a kid on a cold stormy night? I don’t know for sure but I think it’s a little of both.

One way to make fall comfort foods is in the crock pot and this week I’ll be using mine a lot.

There is just something about the yummy smell, that goes through the whole house, when you are slow cooking. As the food slowly cooks to perfection and the time to eat gets closer the meal the house starts to smell so good. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.

The slow cooker meals on our plan this week are split pea soup, cheesy ham and potatoes, and lasagna.

Slow cooker lasagna is a quick and easy way to make lasagna, plus you don’t have to cook the noodles ahead of time.

My hubby loves split pea soup. I think soup just tastes better when it’s made in the slow cooker. All the flavor have time to meld together nicely. I’ll be using ham in our soup recipe this week but it’s also great with sausage.

To use up the rest of the ham this week, I’m making cheesy ham and potatoes in the slow cooker. It’s a yummy one dish comfort food meal and it can be made dairy free too.

I’ll also be grilling teriyaki chicken this week and making homemade salmon patties, both of these dishes are good all year round.

We grill all year round but you can also make the teriyaki chicken under the broiler or bake it.

Finally, I’m taking a night off from cooking and we’ll get something out this week.

That’s it for this week, see the full plan with recipe links below…

Here’s what’s cooking at our house this week

Dinners

Crock pot lasagna on a plate to serve.

Slow Cooker Lasagna, Salad, Fruit, and French Bread

Menu Plan Monday, October 22nd

Menu Plan Monday, October 22nd

Have you made your meal plan for this week? If you need some dinner ideas, see what’s on our meal plan below.

Menu plan with recipe links

Planning meals ahead can help you get organized for the week and help you save money too. When you plan your meals you can use up what you have on hand. You can save trips to the store for unexpected items.

I love knowing what we’ll be eating for the week so I can get items prepped ahead of time on busy days. I can use food I’ve stocked in the freezer.

You can too. This is our meal plan for the week if you need a few inexpensive and quick to make diner ideas.

This week we’ll be eating from the freezer. We’ll have meatballs, teriyaki chicken and pork chops. I love having meat packs ready to go in the freezer.

I make a bunch of meatballs at a time and freeze them in meal sized packages. Then when it’s time to make dinner all I need to do is heat them up and dinner is ready.

We’ll also be making hamburger skillet dish this week. It’s an easy dinner that’s under a dollar a serving. So quick and frugal too. I usually use pre-cooked hamburger from the freezer to make this dish even quicker.

Pizza is a favorite at our house. We make homemade pizza often and with this no rise pizza crust, pizza can be ready faster than it can be delivered.

I also love making quiche for dinner. It’s a great way to take a small amount of leftover meat and vegetables and stretch it into a whole new meal.

Here are all our meal ideas for this week…

Fall has arrived but our weather is odd. It’s chilly in the morning but in the 70’s by the afternoon, since it’s so sunny.

While I’d love to be making soup this week, it going to be a bit warm for that. Instead, we’ll be eating skillet meals that are easy to make.

While most of the week will be easy skillet meals, we will also have a few meals I’ll back just in case we have a cool rainy day mixed in.

But all of the meals this week are inexpensive to make and quick to make too.

Here’s what’s cooking at our house this week

Dinners

Pan Fried Pork Chops, Mashed Potatoes, and Salad

Chili Topped Baked Potato, Salad, and Fruit

Kielbasa and Potato Skillet and Salad

Italian Chicken (freezer meal), Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans

Thai Chicken Thighs (freezer recipe), Rice, and Stir Fry Vegetables

Lunches

Breakfast

I love how easy these cinnamon twist scones are to make. They are as easy to mix up as biscuits, but turn out looking so fancy. Great for breakfast or brunch when company is coming over. They are also a frugal breakfast recipe costing only $.10 each. My family gobbles these up every time I made them.

Toast, Eggs, and Oatmeal

I’m so glad that fall is here. I look forward to all the comfort foods that come with this time of year. My son has been asking for chicken soup for lunch for a while.  I added it to the menu this week. What is your favorite fall meal?

Menu plan with recipe links

I’m keeping my menu plan easy this week since my husband will be on vacation. I don’t want to spend so much time cooking in the kitchen.

We will be having easy meals and a few slow cooker dishes this week too. All things that can be put together quickly and be ready when we are ready to eat. Sort of like a vacation from cooking. 🙂

I love to use my slow cooker for quick and easy meals. I throw everything into the slow cooker in the morning and I don’t have to think about it again until it’s time to eat. It’s so nice!

We’ll be having quite a few crockpot dishes this week. I’ll also be using meatballs I made for the freezer last week. To make bbq meatballs one night.

I also have ham slices in the freezer so I’ll thaw those out one night and make a ham and potatoes dinner.

I make enough mashed potatoes to stretch for two meals. I can do all the peeling and cooking one night and we can have enough for two nights.

Menu Plan Monday, September 24th - Frugal Family Home

It’s hard coming up with new things for dinner each night. That’s why I love planning ahead.

Menu plan with recipe links

If I didn’t menu plan I know I would be standing in front of the refrigerator each night about 4 pm and wondering what in the world am I going to feed my family.

Having a plan helps really helps me keep my family fed and we don’t end up eating the same thing over and over again. 🙂

This week’s menu has a few new recipes along with some easy family favorites. We are also trying a new recipe again this week, zesty potatoes and sausage. It looks like an easy but yummy recipe.

Here’s what’s cooking at our house this week

Dinners

This is the best and easiest homemade pasta sauce I’ve ever made. It’s so simple but tastes so delicious too. It only takes about 20 minutes to make too. Great for a quick and easy dinner any night of the week. If you can open a few cans and slice garlic you can make this delicious sauce in just minutes for a quick and easy dinner. Add in cooked ground beef or cooked sausage to beef it up.

Menu Plan Monday, September 17th - Frugal Family Home

It’s Monday and time to make a plan for this week’s meals. If you aren’t sure what to make this week, take a peek at what’s cooking at our house this week. I’ve got the full plan and recipe links too below.

Menu plan with recipe links

A couple of weeks ago I got a great deal on petite sirlion steaks. We’ll be eating those as brown sugar steaks this week. They are simple to make and so good either grilled or broiled.

We’ll also be enjoying pizza one night and burritos another. These are both easy dinners to make and everyone in our family loves them.

If you’ve not made pizza at home from scratch give this easy no rise pizza dough recipe a try as well as homemade pizza sauce too.

We have quite a bit of basil in our garden so I’ll make basil wraps this week. And to use up the vegetables in the crisper drawer we’ll be having stir fry.

This is what’s cooking at our house this week…

Dinners

A delicious brown sugar rub for steaks, Frugal Family Home

Brown Sugar Steaks, Baked Potatoes, and Salad

Beef and Bean Burritos, Salad, and Fruit

Pizza and Salad

Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with Rice

Slow Cooker Pizza Sloppy Joe’s, Baked Fries, and Fruit

Kielbasa Skillet with Potatoes and Peppers, Salad, and Fruit

Basil Wraps, Rice, and Garlic Green Beans

Lunches

Leftovers most days

Grilled Sandwiches, Chips, and Fruit

Salad with Lunchmeat, Croutons and Sunflower Seeds

Breakfasts

This whole wheat pancake recipe is easy to make and healthy too. It doesn’t contain eggs or oil. You can make it dairy free by using almond milk or another non dairy milk. It’s a great weekend breakfast but fast enough to be made on a weekday too. Even though these pancakes are made with whole wheat, they are light and fluffy. Come see what the secret is to making them fluffy instead of heavy and dense.

Toast, Eggs, and Oatmeal

Omelet, Hashbrowns, and Toast

Pancakes, Eggs, and Sausage

Most days for lunch we will have leftovers from the night before. But I do have items to make sandwiches and hot dogs if we don’t have enough leftovers this week.

It’s Monday and time to make our meal plans for this week. I love having a meal plan ready to go so I know what I’ll be cooking each night.

Menu plan with recipe links

We’re having grilled pizza this week. We just love how great the pizza turns out when cooked on the grill. If you haven’t ever tried it before, I have tips to help your first grilling pizza experience to be a success.

We are trying a few new recipes I found, the Szechuan noodles with spicy beef sauce and creamed ground beef. I’ll have to modify the creamed ground beef to make it dairy free for our family.

Both of these look like quick and easy dishes. Which is the kind of recipe I love.

The rest of the week we’ll be having easy family favorites too.

For lunches most days we’ll be eating leftovers. But occasionally we don’t have enough leftovers. On those days we’ll either have sandwiches or burritos.

On weekdays, we’ll have toast and eggs for breakfast. On the weekends I like to make breakfasts that are special. This week we’ll have waffles and breakfast sandwiches.
