Budget Grocery Haul, Fred Meyer Haul - Frugal Family Home

Budget Grocery Haul, Fred Meyer Haul - Frugal Family Home

Grocery shopping should have been a breeze this week, I didn’t have much on my list. But I combined it with finding socks for my daughter.

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

My daughter needs to have cotton socks, white cotton socks and they are becoming harder to find. Have you noticed most socks are now at least 50% polyester, when did this happen?

I have purchased cotton socks in the past at our local Fred Meyer store but the didn’t have any.

I walked through two Fred Meyer stores on this shopping trip, to find none of the socks she likes so much. I finally gave up after I dropped my reusable bags and lost them. How that happened I’m not quite sure.

They must have slipped off my arm when I picked up socks to check the cotton content and dropped them without knowing it.

After retracing my steps I gave up when I couldn’t locate my lost shopping bags and went on to shop for our groceries.

I was glad that I didn’t have much on my list since I was a little frustrated at not being able to locate the socks and losing my reusable grocery bags too.

But I found a couple of good deals on groceries.

And if you are wondering if I finally found some cotton socks, I did. I made a separate trip to Walmart and found a wide assortment of cotton socks on sale half price. So I stocked up, yay!

Here’s what I found on this grocery haul trip…

Best Deals for this Grocery Haul

Lettuce $.99 a head
Strawberries $3.99 for 2 pounds
Bread $.89
Smart Balance $2.99 – $.60 coupon, just $2.39

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

The total for this grocery haul for this week ended up coming to $31.75. I wish they had a few better deals but not all weeks have great sales that’s why stocking up is so important.

What was the best deal you got this week while out shopping? And where do you find all cotton or at least 80% cotton socks?

For this budget grocery haul, I made a two store trip to Fred Meyer and Safeway.

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

I’m loving all these great beef deals I’ve been getting at Safeway lately. This trip I picked up one package of ground beef at just $2.49 per pound.

I was hoping to pick up $.99 grapes but they were sold out by the time I made it to the store. I was sad to miss such a great deal, but there is bound to be another good deal on grapes soon.

I also found a great deal on eggs at $.88 for one dozen and I had a Checkout 51 coupon to use too. As well as a good deal on cookies at $1.67 each plus I used a Checkout 51 coupon to save even more.

At Fred Meyer I picked up a couple of boxes of granola bars that were on sale. I also shopped for a few other items we needed some at great prices others not so good.

See the full trip in the video.

Budget Grocery Haul, Grocery Outlet and Fred Meyer - Frugal Family Home

Budget Grocery Haul, Grocery Outlet and Fred Meyer - Frugal Family Home

For this budget grocery haul, I stopped two stores. Most shopping trips I’ll shop at one to two stores. I find I can find really good deals by shopping more than one store each week and it really doesn’t take too much time to make two quick stops.

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

For this budget grocery haul, I shopped at Grocery Outlet and Fred Meyer. I was able to find quite a few good deals at each store and I spend just under $30 at each store too.

You can watch the quick video below to see my full budget grocery haul. Or scroll down to see the best deals I found this trip.

Budget Grocery Haul, Huge Winco Foods Haul - Frugal Family Home

Budget Grocery Haul, Huge Winco Foods Haul - Frugal Family Home

This grocery haul was another trip to Winco Foods. I did a big stock up this trip. I usually stock up once month at Winco foods on the items we will need for dinners and the good deals I find there.

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.Some of the links in this post are my referral links. You can see my disclosure policy for more information.

I don’t normally share these huge hauls for a couple of reasons. I purchase so much it’s hard to fit it onto my table. Two I always forget to put something out on the table or mention it in the video. Which happened this time.

I forgot to place my 10 pounds of potatoes on the table. They were a good buy at only $1.98. Also, my other really good buy was eggs. I forgot to take them out and put them on the table. They were just $.98 a dozen so I picked up 4 dozen.

I also used two grocery saving apps this trip. I started using them a while back but hadn’t used them recently. In the past, they rarely had coupons for items I was purchasing so I didn’t use them. But when I checked them out I saw quite a few coupons I could use so I’m going to give them a try once again.

I was able to save $3 with the Ibotta app and $.50 with Checkout 51 app. It may not seem like much but saving a little each trip can really add up. If you haven’t signed up to use these apps it’s a good way to save without having to clip coupons.

You can sign up with Ibotta here and sign up with Checkout 51 here.

In the video below, I mention I’ll be making strawberry jam when our strawberries are ready as well as a batch of sunflower butter. I’ve added those recipe links below.

Sunflower Butter
Strawberry Freezer Jam

Best Buys This Grocery Haul

Dozen Eggs $.98
Potatoes $1.98
Cucumber $.48 -$.25 Checkout 51 Total $.23
Lucky Charms Big Box $2.98 $1 savings from Ibotta Total $1.98
Shredded Cheese $1.38-$.25 from Ibotta $1.13
Bananas $.48/lb $.25 savings from Ibotta
Ken’s Dressing $1.98 $1.00 off Sunday Paper Coupon, Total $.98 each

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

The total for my huge haul from Winco Foods was $160.00. Can you believe it was a round number?

I ended up saving an extra $3 with Ibotta and $.50 with Checkout 51 which makes my total $156.50. That’s not too bad for all we need for the next 4 weeks of dinners.

I will need to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables over the next 4 weeks. I’ll also pick up any good deals I see.

Budget Grocery Haul, Winco Foods Trip - Frugal Family Home

Budget Grocery Haul, Winco Foods Trip - Frugal Family Home

Shopping is something I need to do but occasionally it’s hard to get out and get my grocery shopping done. Usually I’ll shop on Saturday mornings and go to two or three stores but lately, I’ve been shopping when I have time.

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

For this grocery haul trip, I shopped at Winco Food. We went out to shop late and Everyday Deals was already closed. So I picked up what we needed at one store and didn’t stress about it. Sometimes when life is busy you need to do what you can and not worry.

I did have to pay more for some items which frustrates me but the other alternative was to try to get out to the store again another day and the next few weeks are busy so I know that wasn’t going to happen.

I ended up paying a dollar more for each box of granola bars over what I would have paid at Everyday Deals. But I did find cookies at a better price than Everyday Deals. I do believe it all will even out over the month.

Here’s what I purchase for this shopping trip. I neglected to mention the pretzels in the video. Also, the eggs and bread weren’t on the table but I did remember to mention them.

Best Buys for this Budget Grocery Haul

Eggs, 5 dozen $4.18
Mangos $.68 each
Pretzels $1.48
Bananas $.48/lb

This week's budget grocery haul for our family of 4.

For this grocery haul, I spent $65.68. Not too bad considering I didn’t use coupons or shop just sales this trip like I normally would do. Winco Foods has pretty good overall prices and when I can only shop one store I usually choose to shop them.
